Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has recently issued a notification for conducting Civil Services Examination. This test will be conducted to recruit the candidates for various vacancies. We all know that UPSC Civil Services Examination will be conducted in two stages i.e., Preliminary and Main Examination. UPSC Civil Services Examination comprises two successive stages.
- Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination
- Civil Services (Main) Examination
UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam Pattern
- UPSC Preliminary Test will consists of two Papers for 400 marks
- This paper will be considered by the authority as screening test.
- Candidates who cleared this examination will be invited to appear for the main examination
- Each Paper consists of 200 marks
- Both papers will have objective type questions
- General Studies Paper II of the Civil Services will be a qualifying paper of 33%
- Paper will have questions in Hindi/ English
- Duration: 2 hours

UPSC Civil Services Main Exam Paper Pattern
Preliminary test will be objective based type where as main exam is written based test i.e., written and interview.
This test will have two papers i.e., Paper A and Paper B.
Paper A: Applicants have to choose one of the Indian Language
Paper B: English for 300 Marks
Main exam consists of written exam and an interview test
Written test will consists of 9 Papers of conventional essay type.
Candidates who will obtain marks in Main examination will be invited for an interview for a personality test.
The interview will be carry 275 marks
